Turpin High School
I have worked for Turpin High School for two seasons. I started as the assistant technical director and worked with Evan Ditullio on the first two shows of the season, The Great Gatsby and Pride and Prejudice. I then became the lead technical and set designer and construction manager for the musical Into the Woods. During this season and year, I have been working with Andy Leone as his co-technical director. I have also served as set designer and as the costume crew mentor, focusing more on costume construction projects.
This season we have already produced the intense drama Lord of the Flies and the magical story of Narnia The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. This Spring we will bring Mamma Mia to the Turpin High Stage. All these productions have demonstrated the ongoing improvements in the quality of the shows along with significant increases in the number of students who are participating.

Into The Woods

This show has been my favorite to work on. I designed the set and worked closely with the directors to achieve the look we wanted. I got to explore a lot more sides of theatre and help the show in many different ways. While designing the set, I patterned and worked with a student to make the Witches costume, as well as learning how to program lights and work with our five new moving intel lights. This show has been my favorite to be involved with and I am so proud of the end product. To see more of the process, Click this link for my set design page.

The Great Gatsby
As my first staff prediction at Turpin High School I was excited to see all of the ways I would be able to work with the students and help teach them effectively to be able to help design and execute the set. I had been focusing primarily on costume construction in my education pursuits, and I wanted to make sure I would be able to effectively lead all of these students. I was amazed at how quickly I was able to jump right back into the technical construction world, and how I was not only able to pick up the job quickly, but also teach all of the students to plan, design and execute the set for this show. Having great mentors to support me, and always willing to help answer my questions helped move into this position.

Pride and Prejudice

This show was particularly exciting for me, because a student was able to design the set on their own. It was so fantastic to watch students have the passion and drive to learn the skills to design the set with support from me. The most invigorating part of this show was observing the love and passion these students have for their craft.
